About Strumfy
Strumfy is a small, independent project to make learning guitar songs less frustrating. It's made and maintained by Wikum, a software developer and long-time amateur guitarist.
Why I built it
I learned guitar the way many people do: from chord sheets found online, a few friends, and a lot of trial and error. The same problems kept coming up. Songs were in keys my voice couldn't reach. Chord sheets were full of barre chords I couldn't play yet. My timing drifted the moment I tried to play along with anyone. And most explanations of music theory seemed written for people who already understood it.
Strumfy started as a personal songbook with a few small helpers — a transposer, a capo calculator. Over time those helpers became the tools on this site, and the notes I wrote for myself and friends became the guides.
What you'll find here
- Practical tools — a tuner, metronome, chord finder, transposer, capo calculator and more. They run entirely in your browser and don't require an account.
- Clear guides — written from a player's perspective and focused on what actually helps you play songs.
How the content is made
Every guide is written and checked by me, and the chord shapes, scale patterns and theory are verified against the instrument. The chord diagrams on this site are generated by the same code that powers the chord finder, so the shapes you read about and the shapes the tools show are always consistent. When I find a mistake or a clearer way to explain something, I update the article.
How Strumfy is funded
The tools and guides are free. To cover hosting and development, the site may show advertising served by Google AdSense. Ads never change what the tools do, and the tools never send your audio or song text to any server. See the privacy policy for details.
